WHAT TO DO IF MY UNIT HAS BEEN BROKEN INTO:
Temporarily secure your unit. Body Corporate insurance policies do not cover household contents, however, in the case of a broken door or window, the Body Corporate insurance policy will cover the damage. There is an excess payable on such claims which will be for the Owners account.
WHAT TO DO IF THERE IS DAMP INSIDE MY UNIT:
This needs to be assessed by any leak or plumbing specialist to determine the cause. If the cause is found within your unit, it is your responsibility to effect repairs before any claim can be submitted to the insurers. If the cause is found to be from the outside of the structure, the Body Corporate needs to attend to the cause first and thereafter a claim for resultant damage can be finalised.
