TARLEYS SPONSORS RYGERSDAL FC
Tarleys Trust Property Group is proud to announce a strategic sponsorship deal with Rygersdal AFC.
The sponsorship deal, which will last until the end of the season before being re-evaluated, includes a branded squad kit and naming rights to the amateur club’s social senior team.
The Social Boys, competing in the Cape Town Tygerberg District’s fifth division, began playing for the club last season and the team comprises of talent from all over the city including a couple of players from Nelspruit and other parts of South Africa.
“Last year we had a decent season and a very good team spirit,” explained the team’s player-coach Grant James. “We just lacked that bit of quality and depth in our squad to challenge for the league and ended up finishing mid table.
“This season, myself and Justin Asher [Team Manager] have spread the responsibility a bit more, and along with Craig von Wielligh, Ajax Cape Town’s conditioning coach, we have good brains I can trust and bounce ideas off.
“With a couple of very good technical players joining the ranks, and a healthy squad of 21 players, we will be pushing for the league title this season.
“Unlike a lot of sides in this league, we like to play a short passing game with a lot of interchanging of positions and fluidity. Now our attractive football can merge with a big-name sponsor like Tarleys.”
The sponsorship covers the team’s match day kit for the season and will see the side donning a brand new Umbro scarlet and white stripe.
Speaking about the sponsorship deal and what it means to the company, Jaclyn Berman was keen to stress the importance of such activities within the business.
“We’re constantly wondering how we can fulfill our ideals of social responsibility and associate with the right things,” explained the Portfolio Manager.
“We wanted to find a group of people to promote our brand, a group who are both young and unique while upholding our moral mantra of helping others”.
Speaking from his office, the property giant’s director – Bradley Berman – was all praise for the deal and echoed Jaclyn’s sentiments.
“These guys would be the ones renting properties from us, we would manage their Body Corporate, we would maintain and develop their office buildings and we would renovate their houses,” said Berman.
“Through this sponsorship agreement we open ourselves up to a massive market of young entrepreneurs and boldly display our brand on the shirts of a very passionate and young squad of soccer players who we feel are capable of representing what we stand for.
“With the club, as a whole, the opportunities are endless and we look forward to taking on this new challenge to see where this deal can put us in the long term.”
While the sponsorship deal has only been set in stone for one season, there are many clauses which would allow Tarleys Trust Property Group to continue their support of Rygersdal AFC well into the next ten to fifteen years.
“Ideally we would like to sponsor the entire club, so this is just a starting block,” explained Bradley.
“Next year we will look into adopting a couple of the junior teams and possibly attach ourselves with one or two more senior teams.
“The FIFA World Cup attracted so many companies to join in on the soccer festivities and this year we decided to revel in the success of a show which South Africa put on and adopt our own team in the hope that one day this company can be fully committed to one of the most successful and well known soccer clubs in Cape Town.”
Youngsters from the age of seven years old brave the trains from inside the townships in order to make their way to Rondebosch, all to ensure they’re at training twice a week and form part of their coaches plans for the weekend.
The club boasts many former professionals and current players such as former Bafana Bafana striker Gerald Stober and Goalkeeper John Goodwin, as well as current Bidvest Wits midfielder Thando Mngomeni and former Santos and current Maritzburg United left back, Bevan Fransch.
Gary Gibson, former coach of Ikapa FC and Mother City FC, has now taken over the coaching reigns at Rygersdal which see’s the former Hellenic player in charge of the first team while over seeing the entire junior coaching staff in a “Director of Football” type position.
Tarleys Trust Property Group is glad to be associated with the Rygersdal Social Boys and wishes the team, Tarleys Rygersdal, a great and successful season.
